We are back on the west coast again but this time in Broome. It’s a nice town with the fantastic 10km long Cable Beach alongside it.

It’s the first time we have been able to safely swim in the sea since leaving the Sunshine Coast a few months ago. You can drive along the beach when the tide is right and find a quiet spot. It gets a bit busy by late afternoon when people are leaving to go back to their accommodation while others are arriving to watch the spectacular sunsets.

We met Brian and Kaye who we had last seen at Lake Argyle, they introduced us to ‘Sundowners’; its what you do on Cable Beach at sunset. The navigator didn’t seem to need much of an introduction though!

We spent a day driving up a coastal track to Manari where a reef is exposed at low water. The reef itself wasn’t all that good but the beaches were great and with a warm wind blowing, ideal for a bit of kite flying.

| A bit further south of Manari was Quondong Point where the red desert sands meet the Indian Ocean. |

Red desert ideal for kite flying, you won’t see the blood.
